Reviews are VERY important.

One thing I can say about my journey of writing is, I’m learning as I go.  Another is, I found that people do, in fact, judge books by their covers.  As you know, I’ve recovered the first two installments in my Hamden Series, and I can’t tell you how EXCITED I am about them.

However, one of the downsides of this is that my reviews did not slide over with them on retail sites.  I’m asking for all who reviewed to go back and post again, as well as anyone who hasn’t, what better opportunity than now to do so.  Then I thought, why stop there.

I could speak for authors on a whole, but I won’t, I’ll only speak of me.  When I started this craziness of writing, I never thought the little world in my head would become a “known” thing.  Saying, “Hamden” and people knowing what the heck I’m talking about is completely heart stopping, but utterly amazing all at the same time.

The words flowed and soon I realized, holy crow, I’m about to release my third book! I think back to all the sleepless nights, the “five more minutes” comments to my husband, which actually turned into four hours.  Of the episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia the First or Doc McStuffin that I had my kids watch to entertain themselves so I could finish a scene.  Especially, of all the constant chattering and unending demand of opinions of my friends and family, who have read my work. (sorry if I offended anyone)  Basically. I took time out of my life, away from my family, from other things, to do THIS.  That time I will never get back, and I’m okay with that because I’m PROUD of what I’ve done.  I get they are not everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s okay too.  Can’t take away from what I’ve accomplished.  Heck, Stephanie Meyers, J.K. Rowling, and E. L. James aren’t everyone’s idea of perfection.

You will see authors and bloggers make a point to tell you, “the biggest compliment you could give an author is taking two minutes and write a review”.  I can not stress this enough.  Nothing could be more truthful.

Don’t get me wrong, I would love all five star reviews, but I know that isn’t going to happen, but I would LOVE to know what YOU thought of my little world.  Whether it is just a star review, a one liner, or multiple paragraphs, the fact that you took the time to tell me, means the world.  Perhaps I can even, down the road, show my kids, “see this is what someone thought of Mommy’s book.”

I’m not demanding anything, but I am asking nicely, to show your favorite authors how much you appreciate their time and work by taking the five minutes you could be playing Candy Crush as you wait for the line for ice coffee to move, to write that review for THAT book!

Happy Reading and my dream is for you all to fall in love with Hamden.
